Easy Bath Salt

This was so much fun! My niece wanted to do something crafty, so I brought my supplies over and we got to work! This recipe makes approximately 10 half pint mason jars with a little bit left over from each color/scent to make a rainbow. It came out to two jars of each color/scent.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups Epsom Salt
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 3 cups sea salt or kosher salt
  • Coconut oil
  • Food coloring
  • Assorted extracts or essential oils.

If you’re using extra to, you’ll use more coconut oil since a lot of extracts have alcohol in them.

First, combine Epsom Salt, baking soda, and sea or kosher salt in a bowl and mix well. Then, we split up that mixture into the jars since we were making different scents and colors.

Since we decided we were going to make two of each color/scent, we poured two jars back into the bowl to add the food coloring, coconut oil and extracts.

Then, we added 8 drops of food coloring, 3 tsp coconut oil and we just used our noses to decide how much extract to use to get the desired amount of scent.

We kept stirring until it was slightly moist, and put them back into the mason jars.

That’s it. All done!!! So easy right??? My favorite was the Purple Lavender one! You can mix and experiment with different extracts or oils to make your own scent too. My mom’s favorite ended up being a Vanilla Mint mixture. This stuff leaves your skin SO soft!!!

5 Ingredient Mint Sugar Scrub Soap

Y’all, this stuff is SO easy to make!

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Mint extract for scent
  • Dawn dish soap
  • Food coloring for desired color

First, melt your coconut oil in a microwave safe dish. Takes maybe 20 seconds or so. Add your mint extract. Pour in the sugar a little at a time and mix well. I put 3 cups, but just keep adding until you get an almost dry and chunky texture. 1 or two drops of food coloring (I used green because mint. Duh.) Then add approximately 2 to 3 tablespoons of dawn dish soap. At this time, add more sugar if it is too runny or wet. Finally, give it a test run to make sure it bubbles up. If not, add more Dawn. That’s it. Voila! Put it in a mason jar or whatever you plan on storing or gifting it in!

My best friend said this was too much work. But she’s got 4 kids lol it literally takes like 5 to 10 minutes if you aren’t distracted.
